THE TRUTH ABOUT FAT LOSS
In this blog, I’m going to discuss when you would not use ice or heat, and why you would use these modalities. This blog is for education purposes only.
Fat loss is one of the most talked about topics in health and fitness – and also one of the most misunderstood! With so many diets, supplements, and “magic” solutions out there, it is easy to feel overwhelmed or misled.
The truth? Fat loss is simple, but not easy.
Understanding The Basics
Fat loss happens when your body uses more energy (calories) than it consumes. This energy gap forces your body to tap into its fat stores for fuel.
This principle is called a caloric deficit. Whether you achieve it through diet, exercise, or both – it is the one non-negotiable for fat loss.
Key Tips for Fat-Loss:
Track your calories (at least for a while). Using an app like MyFitnessPal can help.
Focus on whole foods: lean protein, fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and healthy fats.
Avoid liquid calories like soda, sugary coffee drinks, or excessive alcohol – they add up fast.
Prioritise protein intake. It boosts satiety and helps preserve muscle mass – achieving a toned body.
Exercise: The Fat-Loss Accelerator
It starts by increasing your output – moving more.
Whether that is through walking, running, strength training training, exercise classes or another variation of exercise.
Exercise will simply burn those calories.
Sleep & Stress: The Missing Pieces
Poor sleep and high stress levels can significantly affect your hormones, cravings, and fat storage!
Sleep at least 7 – 9 hours a night. Lack of sleep increases hunger hormones and lowers self-control.
Manage stress with tools like meditation, journaling, walking, or therapy.
Chronic stress = high cortisol = more stored fat
Consistency Beats Perfection
You do not need to be perfect – just be consistent.
Fat loss is a long game, not a 7-day detox or crash diet!
Expect plateaus. Be patient. Adjust your plan instead of quitting.
“Slow progress is still progress.”
Common Myths (Debunked)
🚫 Carbs make you fat – No, excess calories do. Eating in a calorie surplus will make you gain weight
🚫 You need to do hours of cardio – Nope. Strength training + a calorie deficit out weighs doing endless hours of cardio.
🚫 Fat burners work – Most are scams. Some might slightly boost metabolism, but without a calorie deficit, they will do nothing!
Fat loss doesn’t have to be complicated. Stick to simple, sustainable habits, and your results will come – and STAY!
